Guillermo Moreno Rodríguez was born on June 30, 1955. He got B. Sc. and M. Sc. degrees form the Faculty of Sciences at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and the Ph. D. at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He died in Mexico City, on November 29, 2006. From August 1988 till his death he was professor at the Mathematics Department of Cinvestav-IPN (Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional) in Mexico City.

Dr. Moreno was the advisor of seven M. Sc. graduates and four B. Sc. graduates. He was visiting fellow at the Max-Planck Institute (1986), Centre de Recerca Matematica de Barcelona (1987), University of Rochester (1992) and Universidad de Zaragoza (1998).
